The Dodge City Trail of Fame - Official Celebration of the GUNSMOKE 55th Anniversary Dodge City, Kansas - September 3rd and 4th, 2010
Guests include Buck Taylor - an award winning western watercolor artist who starred as Newly O'Brien in 119 episodes of GUNSMOKE, Jim Byrnes whose credits include 35 episodes of GUNSMOKE, “Walker Texas Ranger”, “The Macahans”, “How The West Was Won”, “The Sacketts”, “The Gambler” series with Kenny Rogers, and several of the GUNSMOKE movies, Bo Hopkins with roles in TV shows like "The Virginian" & "Bonanza," to movies such as "The Wild Wild West," "The Wild Bunch" & "Cat Ballou" will be there as well as award winning western humorist, cowboy poet and Encore Westerns On-Air Promotions Director, Jeff Hildebrandt, Inga Ojala - actress, artist and fast draw holster maker whose father was the most well known of the Hollywood “gun coaches”, and, Western events producer/writer and kin to Glenn Strange, Julie Ann Ream. Julie contributes to the production of Rex Allen Days, the Western Legends Awards, and is a spokesperson for the National Day of the Cowboy organization. James Arness hopes to join the festivities via telephone.
Free Western theme vendor space is available both days. Symposia will take place both days with an opportunity to meet and chat with the stars as well as obtain autographs. There is a western dress banquet Friday evening and Dodge City Trail of Fame will dedicate sidewalk medallions for GUNSMOKE stars Glenn Strange (Sam the bartender) and James Nusser (Louie Pheeters the town drunk) on Saturday.

Eight young Mustangs and four Burros will be available for adoption at the event with bidding opening at noon. Members will have their trained Mustangs present for demonstrations, as well as information about the range and the wild horses. Schedule includes the Anderson Sling demonstration, obstacle course and game play.

We'll be sharing our Western heritage along with a Texas Buffalo Soldier Military Camp in September at the Wild West Cowboy Roundup in downtown Garland, Texas, with special guests James Drury (The Virginian), The Light Crust Doughboys, and more.
Chuckwagons will be serving up authentic cowboy grub from dutch ovens for those with "wild" appetites! The "cookies" will be serving up hearty meats, beans, and potatoes all day long. Don't forget the authentically restored Stagecoach for your honey. And if chuckwagon isn't your style, the Mexican Cantina with Mariachis is the perfect alternative! Wild music and entertainment will be offered all day on the Historic Downtown Square in Garland. The day's entertainment includes historic reenactments of our pioneer past and other offerings indoors at the Plaza Theater. Special western performances, western singers, western swingers and cowboy poets, will make this a day to remember! Activities for little buckaroos include a petting zoo and hay mazes that will keep your kiddos entertained for hours. On top of that, there will be face painting, pony rides, balloon hats, games and crafts and horseshoe tosses for our little cowboys and cowgirls! Good times for the whole family.Come one and all to celebrate our Western Heritage at the Wild West Cowboy Round-Up!
